The Delbert Cartoon Report

  I'll make this quick because we are probably going to lose power in our area due to high winds, but these are the final 4 characters left in the tournament.   All but 1 comes from the Warner Bros. Cartoon Library.  Chilly Willy comes from Universal. You got one comic book character, 2 golden age characters, and 1 Cartoon Network character. All #1 seeds are eliminated, there are no more left.  In fact, they all left by the Elite Eight. The Final Four are Porky Pig, Batman, Johnny, Chilly Willy.

  Here is the Sweet 16 for the Cartoon Tournament.  2 #1 seeds went down and plenty of upsets.  Anime is very strong in the tournaments.   Continue to watch the basketball games to see if your character moves on to the Elite Eight then the Final Four.  

  March Madness has arrived once again.  It's time for the cartoon tournaments.  How it works: Each character had been picked randomly and would represent each team on the same bracket of the NCAA Tournament.  There is no voting involved, just characters representing a basketball team.  But first....let's welcome in our #1 seeds: Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight.  Early on running from a real fight, she is the overall #1 seed.  Sailor Moon is coming out strong after her 30th anniversary with more access to the anime, and two new movies coming very soon.  You can watch Sailor Moon for free now on Youtube and 24/7 on her Pluto channel.  All this makes her a top contender.   We haven't done a Blu-ray review in a long time, and there is an upcoming Blu-ray about ready to hit the market (which you got early if you were a Disney Movie Club member)....Mickey and Minnie. With this year being the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company which was founded on animation with the Alice in Cartoonland Comedies, Disney is going all out celebrating this milestone with many events including home video releases.  Most have been re-releases of famous films with limited 100 years packaging and a 4k set for Cinderella is coming out soon as part of this series, but it seems that Disney is looking at releasing a series of Blu-rays featuring the cartoon shorts.  The package hints at more volumes as it says vol 1 on the cover, and what better way to start out a series of releases than how it all really got started....with a mouse.......  Ahhh 2022; just when we thought everything would be great about halfway through it started to end in disaster.  And boy what a year.  So many highs, lows, and some in betweens.  As we look back on all things 2022, we have seen a lot.  And I do mean a lot. Animated Features Like the past two years, animated features bounced back and forth between theaters and streaming.  Especially over at Disney.  For Turning Red, which had mixed reviews, it went straight to streaming.  For others, such as Lightyear and Strange Worlds, they did go to theaters, but the money was not there.  Lightyear was the first mediocre for the Toy Story franchise, and when Strange Worlds came out for Thanksgiving hoping to be the hit of the year, it bombed.  It has since become the worst movie of the year, and possibly one of Disney's biggest flops.  Minions came out and made money.  Meanwhile, independent films like Pinocchio are getting high praise. ...

 Like that rash on your skin, this thread never goes away, where we highlight the best and worst, though mostly worst, public domain companies.  Today's company is a small but somewhat impact full company known as Silver Screen Video. Very little is known about this company.  It, essentially, was another fly by day company.  Its earliest known tapes were around 1989, its latest.....around 1990.  Two years, and they couldn't keep a profit.  Clearly they couldn't be that bad......could they? Well for the art covers for starters, yes.  The covers for a lot of their tapes are really bad.  Some of these looked like they were drawn by a five year old.  The many different volumes of tapes include Mickey Mouse, which we'll talk about later, Superman, Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Donald Duck, Popeye, Mighty Mouse, Woody Woodpecker, Tweety, Elmer Fudd, Heckle and Jeckle, and Casper.   Our first infamous tape is Mickey Mouse which appear...

  For those that have been following the recent updates, you may have heard about the leaked plots coming for the live action series for The Loud House.  There were statements of a girl (or boy, or non-binary....you never know in this day and age) named Charlie that's supposed to be in it and it's been suggested that this character or some other significant other is Lincoln's crush.  Immediately the backlash happened especially on Twitter.  "Who is this crush?  It should be Ronnie Anne!  This better say Ronnie Anne is his crush or I'll get furious!"  The tweets go on and on and on.......... Now, I don't know what is going to happen to the series, and if it has bad writing, I'm not going to defend that, but if fans start throwing fits sending death and harassment threats to the writers, producers, directors, and heaven forbid the actors, then yeah, I'm going to defend the people involved in the series.  This controversy brought to light an argument...
